How do I see my ad on Cars.com and kbb.com?

Once your ad posts to the Cars.com site, you can see it by going to the home page of Cars.com and entering your ZIP code and model under Search Used Cars. A list of all the current used cars in your area on Cars.com will appear.
  • On kbb.com, you can click on Buy A Used Car and then enter your ZIP code and model under Search Used Cars.
You may also find your car online from your "My Ads" page by clicking "View Ad" next to your ad. NOTE: This link will not be available immediately after you make changes to your ad when it is still in a "Pending" ad status.

Do you provide any statistics?

Some ad packages include free ad-tracking tools, which monitor and report the number of times your ad is viewed in Search Results, Preview Panes and Ad Pages. If your ad has received numerous views but you still haven't sold your car, you can make changes to your ad to make it more attractive to potential buyers.

Why does my ad say it's in a Pending, Posted, or Expired status?

The ad status indicates the current status of your ad. Posted ads are ads currently viewable on the Cars.com site. Any time you renew or modify your ad, it will be changed to a Pending status for a brief period while our system processes your changes or renewal. If you do not renew your ad, our system will move it into an expired status after the indicated renewal date. Ads that cannot be renewed will expire 14 days after purchase. Expired ads are no longer viewable on Cars.com.

How do I edit my ad?

After signing in to your "My Ads" page, click on the Edit Ad button for your ad. The Edit Ad page will allow you to edit your vehicle and contact information. To edit your photos, you will need to click the "Modify Photos" button below your photo(s). To save your changes, you will need to click the "Save Changes" button. If you purchased a package that includes free renewals, there will be a box you can check to also renew your ad. After saving your changes, you will receive a confirmation page and email showing the updated information for your ad. Your changes will take a few minutes to appear on the Cars.com site, during which time your ad will be in a "Pending" ad status. (If you require updates to the year, make or model of your vehicle, please contact our Customer Service Team.)

How do I edit the make, model or year of my ad?

Each ad is designed to advertise a single vehicle (please see our Terms & Conditions). To prevent abuse of our service, we do not allow you to manually change the make, model or year for your ad after purchase. If you made an error when creating your ad and need to edit any of this data, you will need to contact our Customer Support Team. In order for your request to be considered, it must meet the following requirements:
  • Your ad must be less than 10 days old.
  • You must provide us with the ad ID (available on your My Ads page)
  • If you wish to change the make, model and/or year, you will need to provide this information as currently advertised; and the make, model and year you wish to change it to.
  • You must provide a description of why you need to change the vehicle data. Requests that do not include a reason will not be considered.
Please send your request to our Customer Service Team.

Please allow 24 to 48 hours for us to consider your request. If your request is approved, we will update your ad.

How do I renew my ad?

If you purchased an ad that includes free renewals, you can renew your ad for no charge. The renewal option is available the day after you create your ad or the day after you renew your ad, and may be done anytime up to 90 days after your ad is removed from the Cars.com network. For example, if your ad is on the site on March 1 and it expires at midnight on March 30, you may renew your ad at any time between March 2 and midnight on June 29.

To renew your ad: From the Cars.com home page, click on the Edit/Renew Ad link on the upper left side of the page. Then type in your email address and password. Next to your ad, click the Renew link. You will be given the option of renewing your ad with its current information or updating your ad before it is renewed. Your ad will be renewed for an additional 30 days from the date you renew it. You will be able to continue to renew your ad until your vehicle sells.

Or, click the following link or paste it into your browser: http://siy.cars.com/siy/editSignIn.jsp

What happens when I delete my ad?

When you delete your ad, it is removed from the Cars.com network within 24 hours. With an ad package that does not include free renewals, you can undelete your ad at any point up its expiration date. With an ad package that includes free renewals, you can renew your ad up to 90 days from the date on which it was deleted.

Why does it say I have no current ads when I know I do?

If you sign in to your My Ads page expecting to see your ads but are told you have none, generally one of three things has happened:

  1. You have more than one user name and/or e-mail address, and your ad was placed under a name or e-mail address different than the one with which you are currently signed in. To determine the correct user name or e-mail address used for your ad, locate the confirmation e-mail we sent you when you created your ad. This e-mail will contain the e-mail address and password you provided when creating your ad.
  2. Your ad expired more than 90 days ago, and it has been permanently removed from your "My Ads" page. You will need to purchase a new ad in order to list your vehicle again.
  3. You originally placed your ad through your local newspaper. To make changes to your ad, contact the newspaper directly.

If you still cannot locate your ad, please contact our Customer Service Team, and someone from our team will be with you shortly.

Why can't I find my ad when I search under the body style I selected?

The Search by Type function allows users to search by body style. However, the search return is based on the body style Cars.com has associated with specific makes/models, which may not necessarily match the body style you selected. The search engine functions this way to standardize the car models returned with each body style. The body style you indicate is displayed with your ad, but does not affect the search return based on body style.

How do I change my password?

To change your password, you will need to sign in to your My Ads page. After you enter your e-mail address and password, click the Edit Your Profile link in the upper right corner of this page. Enter a new password and confirm your new password. Then click on the "Save Changes" button

What if I forget my password?

Click here to go to the My Ads Sign In page. From this page you can recover your password by selecting the "Forgot Your Password?" link. A pop-up window will appear where you can enter your e-mail address. Our system will then send an e-mail to your e-mail address with your password.

How do I change an ad if it was originally placed in print through a newspaper?

In general, if you place a print ad in an affiliate newspaper, you must contact the newspaper to make any changes.

Some newspapers may offer print/online ad packages that allow you to edit the online version of the ad. If you buy such a package, you will receive an e-mail confirmation from Cars.com telling you how to access your online ad.

In either case, to change the print version of an ad you must contact the newspaper.
